The Umpire's Information

 

Umpires Key The action takes place in Hoodsville USA Summer 1930

Players receive their Faction card, two Vehicle cards and an Entrance card at random. An  umpire draws a Bullion Wagon Position card also at random. The players should be kept in the dark as to what is going on as long as possible. The game starts at 4 am. So the area is fairly quiet. Most of the residents in the buildings will keep their heads down,pretending to stay asleep at the sound of any shooting in the normal Hoodsville tradition. One Chance card is drawn each move by an Umpire and applied as deemed most appropriate. Fatigue! Characters can run one double move then double -2”, then double -4” & -1 in melee. One move static to recover.

Foot moving through trains -2” Fifteen Moves till the Acorn County Police arrive.

Each move is divided into two rounds for firing, meleeing, talking or breaching.

Aimed fire must be from a stationary position (turning possible) Snap fire possible whilst moving but not if running. Snap deducts 2 from D10 hit chance dice.

Jammed guns, D6 5+ cleared fires next round, 3+ takes 2 rounds to unjam, 2- Useless.

Bullion Wagon The hoodlums only know that this is marked by outsize Pinkerton padlocks, spotted when passing within 4”. Lock Pick D6 needing a 6, jemmying hinges D6 4+, placed dynamite stick automatic but 5” blast circle & will wake whole area! The Bullion is in two crates inside the wagon. 2 men to carry at 4” or 1 to drag 2”. 

Outbreak of Firing! more than 3 shots. All agents in houses wake & lookout! Umpire dices D6 -2 police come out of Police Station to investigate.

Dynamite Explosion! Police emerge from Station & Police Reserve Van arrives in AvD Moves D6 for entry point. Green numbers of the plan!

 

Game’s End?

The game ends when anyone manages to get both crates of bullion either into the  Shebeen Catering depot or the Betty Boop Dance hall or off the table. Otherwise when the police take full control of the scene! The Acorn County Escort may arrive early Umpire to dice D6 Move 11 need a 6, Move 12 a 5+, Move 13 a 4+, Move 14 a 3+, Move 15 the escort arrives automatically. D6 for which road they enter by.
