Flotilla Briefing

You are the Barii Countess Mildred of Borolon. With many other Barii and Stetii and elf ladies you have been accompanying your husbands in the war to regain Tempania. This culminated in a huge battle near Talarth Narnienor. You had to flee the scene yesterday to the city of Chogard at the southern end of the Nymph Water. The last you saw, the Lawic army with your husband in it, was totally surrounded and being methodically destroyed. Roving bands of horsemen and wolf riders were attacking the baggage, so you rode away from the scene. The future looks black as almost every fighting man, dwarf or elf was involved in the battle. Some ladies have determined to stay at Chogard hoping for news of their husbands and male relatives and relying on its walls to protect them. You think this foolhardy. You are sure that your husband and almost all the Lawic army are now dead.  The Chaotics have giants and dragons in their army making the Chogard walls of little security. Your husband had three Borolon lymphads in the port of Chogard to which you went on arrival. You offered passage to as many Barii and Stetia refugees as are willing to escape and other vessels did likewise. So last evening you set sail and relying mainly on the current you have been heading southwards. Some think they will find safety in the elf lands of Regalia and Amelia but you are heading for home in Borolon. Last night, hearing shouting from the shore, you stopped to pick up six men fled from the battle. Baggage guard Captain Quicksand, four Oblivian bowmen with no arrows and a wounded wagon driver. You were able to supply the bowmen with arrows from the ships ample stores. You are very conscious that there is going to be a severe shortage of men of any sort, since almost all that could fight were drafted into the now lost army. In fact your flotilla of seven vessels has only 14 not very warlike male sailors aboard.  Aboard your ship the St. Melania you have a woman sailor and four more females of martial disposition. Assuming that the enemy have not captured Catena ahead and drawn up the chain, you should be safe from ground borne enemies. What could be very dangerous are any of their flame breathing dragons. You hope most of these will have perished in the battle or be so sated with victims as not to come so far away.

Decisions: How do you share out the six men? Should you pick up any more refugees along the river bank? Should you offer to evacuate Catena if it is still free from the enemy?  Your objective is to get as many refugees as possible safely down river.

You have the lymphads Melania 11, Fabiola 15, Eadburgh 15, the cogs Beatrice 11, Elizabeth 11 and the yawls Anne 7 & Adeliza 7 = 76 plus the 6 men rescued = 82 All speak Simnith
